Bows of Burning Gold

In 2006, former NFWI Chairman Helen Carey published Bows of Burning Gold, a wonderful book about the history of the WI. She is now issuing a Centenary Edition of Bows of Burning Gold, which brings our history up to date, including the years from 2006 until 2015.

The book is a social history of the past 100 years, illustrating the remarkable contribution women have made to society, and the changes they have brought about in their local communities since the first WI meeting in Anglesey in 1915.

The Centenary Edition of Bows of Burning Gold includes lots of new photos and recent material about National Chairmen, Denman College, ACWW, WI Markets and WI publications.

As in the original edition, there is a page for each year from 1915 to 2015 and each includes details of WI events, activities and campaigns at all levels – national, federation and local.

The books are priced at £9.99.

Most impressively, Helen will donating all proceeds from sales of the book to the Saving Denman Appeal! You can buy yourself a fantastic keepsake (and a very good read) while helping Denman at the same time.
