CFWI Trustees Plant a Tree for the Jubilee!

Last week, members of the CFWI Board of Trustees planted a tree as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy, a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

Individuals, community groups and businesses are all encouraged to plant a tree during the official planting season between October and March, and to help enhance our environment. With a focus on planting sustainably, The Queen’s Green Canopy will encourage planting of trees to create a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership of the nation, which will benefit future generations.

Our tree is a Magnolia stellata, and is planted in the small garden in the top corner of the car park at Chy Noweth, for all members to enjoy. That little garden will be undergoing a bit of titivation in the coming year, and the hope is that it will be a source of pride for us all.

If you or your WI would like to get involved, it’s very easy. Just visit The Queen’s Green Canopy website to get started. The website even offers planting advice. You can then add your tree to the interactive map for everyone to see.
