Christmas Wreath-Making for Mawnan WI

When Mawnan WI member Sue Hewitt agreed to run a wreath making workshop, she did not expect 30 members and visitors to arrive at the Memorial Hall clutching greenery, baubles and berries!

Unsurprisingly though, she was well-prepared with two sackfuls of moss for making our wire-framed wreaths and lots of festive ribbons which she showed the group how to make into very professional looking bows. The predominant style was natural and vintage, taking advantage of the unusual foliage and dried seed pods and flowerheads which people had brought from their gardens.

After a couple of hours of concentration, conversation and tea and cake, everyone went home with a wreath to hang on their front door.

Mawnan WI’s Christmas celebrations continue at the turning on of the Christmas Lights when they will be selling mulled wine and homemade mince pies and then at the Village Christmas Party on 13th December at 3pm.
