Constantine WI Celebrates 70 Years

Constantine WI recently celebrated its 70th birthday at Trenarth Manor, home of Lucie Nottingham, with a superb communal lunch which a number of  new members attended, meeting other members for the first time.

A beautiful celebration cake was made by 13-year-old Grace Vyvyan, granddaughter of Constantine WI member May Vyvyan.

One of Constantine WI’s founding members, Beaujolois Inez Cavendish, died recently at the age of 102 years. She was a truly inspirational woman, and left the WI a small legacy which was announced at the 70th birthday lunch.

Also announced was the receipt of £1000 from the John Laing Charitable Trust. Constantine WI member Helen Rogers was instrumental in applying for and obtaining this grant, under the ‘Make a Difference’ scheme. The members are extremely grateful for both these donations and intend to put them to good use replacing the floor in the WI Hall, making it more multi-purpose, and also more easy to clean in these COVID times.
