Is Your WI Using Your Passport?

Is your WI going on a journey this Centenary year? A virtual one, that is. It’s not hard! All you have to do is stamp all the ‘destinations’ you reach during the year, and you could win a prize.

Your WI was sent a passport in September, ready for you to start completing in 2019. Your WI Secretary should have yours, but if you’ve misplaced it, just ring the Office for a new copy.

It’s not difficult, and your WI probably does (or will be doing) many of these things already.

Enter one of the Royal Cornwall Show competitions – the deadline to send in your application is 31 March, so there’s still plenty of time!

Come along to Spring Countdown in April. Guest speaker Cal Major is going to tell us all about how she paddleboarded the entire length of the UK to raise awareness of plastic pollution in our oceans and seas.

Come to one of our brilliant CFWI Centenary events! We have so many exciting things in the diary this year: A garden party, zip wiring at the Eden Project, a camping weekend, a tea dance, a county lunch and much more!

Invite a Board member of WI Adviser to one of your monthly meetings. You can find all their names and contact details in the Year Book – your WI Secretary or President will have a copy of it.

Get a photo or mention in WI Life. Has your WI done something extra special recently? Something you’d like WI members all over the UK to read about? Send your stories and photos to WILife.Editor@nfwi.org.uk.

Appoint a new committee member. With Annual Meetings just around the corner in February and March, now is the perfect time to start recruiting among your membership. There must be someone with the perfect skills to join your committee!

Send a photo or write-up to County News. We try to publish all WI news items, so please drop us a line and show us what you’ve been up to. Just email your story and photo to cfwi.publications@gmail.com.

Get a photo in the CFWI Calendar. The deadline to send in your photos for the 2021 calendar is the end of October, so you have plenty of time to get out there and start snapping. The theme is ‘Cornish Gateways’ which should give lots of scope for some fantastic shots!

Sign up three new WI members. The best way to get new members for your WI is word of mouth. If you meet someone new, tell her how great your WI is! You are your WI’s best recruitment tool. And why stop at just three new members?!

Take part in a beach clean or litter pick. With all things environmental very much on the WI radar and with spring approaching, what could be better!?

Team up with another WI for an activity or event. Why not plan an outing together? Or perhaps a coffee morning? Or an afternoon tea? Any excuse for a party!

If you need any tips or advice on how achieve some of your stamps, just ask!

And have fun with it!
