Mawnan WI’s fifth Christmas Gift Fair attracted more visitors than ever. From the moment the doors opened there was a steady stream of customers making an early start to their Christmas shopping and choosing from a wide selection of locally made items.
This year there were 19 stalls which included regulars as well as newcomers. The jewellery stalls attracted early attention with colourful necklaces made by WI member Marian Saunders, and beautiful silver earrings amongst the selection brought along by Lesley Ross. Other stall holders were selling glass, pottery, hand sewn pieces, flowers and Christmas wreaths.
Mawnan WI had its own stall selling homemade cakes, jams and pickles, and ran a bottle tombola which quickly sold out. Some members had made soup which was served by several very busy refreshments teams. Mawnan WI President Sally Annan thanked members for their support which contributed hugely to the success of the day, with over £800 being raised.
