Money-Saving Moneybags at Crowlas & Ludgvan WI

Members of Crowlas and Ludgvan WI have been looking at ways to cut back on their use of plastics and to reduce all other waste, while saving money at the same time.

At every meeting, multiple payments are handed over to the Treasurer, and this is usually handed over in plastic money bags or paper envelopes with sticky labels attached.

Not anymore.

Members are making drawstring bags from recycled fabric and these will replace both plastic bags and the envelopes. The first of these are already in use for the monthly meeting sales table, raffle and board games donations, and some members have offered to
embroider the bags to help the Treasurer identify which are filled with
which fund.

In addition, members are being encouraged to pay for activities and subscriptions via Bacs bank transfer. This system has the added environmentally sound benefits as it requires fewer car journeys to the bank.

Members of Crowlas & Ludgvan WI are very conscious of the need to do their bit to reduce their impact on the environment. While they know these are only small changes, they believe that if everyone works together, they can have a big impact.
