Mylor Village Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Lots of teddy bears arrived on the playing fields in Mylor last Wednesday afternoon, and the children who brought them received presents of hula hoops, bubbles, soft sponge balls and brightly coloured tennis balls.

The free event was organised by Mermaids: Mylor and Flushing WI as part of their centenary celebrations. Families enjoyed free tea and cake and lots of ice lollies to keep them cool.

Mermaids: Mylor and Flushing WI President Ali Menary said, “We are delighted so many families joined us today and the children brought their teddies. Everyone’s enjoyed the opportunity to sit and chat whilst the children play”.

One teddy, owned by Mermaids member Val Jeans-Jakobossn, was over 100 years old!

Fran Michael, who organises social events for the Mermaids said, “It’s been a great success!”

The next children’s event will be in September when the WI will be organising a scarecrow competition.
