Children from Mawnan School and the village pre-school were joined by mums, dads and grannies at the Pancake Races organised by Mawnan WI this week. There were lots of races for everyone who attended, from two-year-olds to ladies and gents in their 80s. Many showed considerable skill in tossing their pancakes as they raced down the hall!
Margaret Lugg had made some almost indestructible pancakes and Marion Collins had her work cut out keeping the racers in order – and that was the adults! “It has been a fantastic afternoon with more than 50 children involved,” she said.
Mawnan WI has been organising these Shrove Tuesday events for many years which are enjoyed by adults and children alike and are pleased to be keeping this traditional community event going.
