Porthleven WI Members Have Stars in Their Eyes

“We are all made of stardust”, a quote by Carl Sagan, opened a fascinating evening at Porthleven WI last week. The speaker, Clint, from the Cornwall Sea to Stars project, came along to explain why stars shine. Members were given the chance to touch a meteorite and were surprised to learn that their gold jewellery originated in a supernova. It was great to have several new members in the audience.

Thank you to Felicity and Diane for providing us with refreshments. The competition for flower of the month was won by Sue, best poem by Margaret and the raffle by Tracy.

Next month, the meeting will be an Open Evening. Anyone is welcome to come along to hear Lee Cairns from the Spinal Injuries Association speaking about his rehabilitation from a spinal cord injury whilst serving in the military. The meeting takes place on Wednesday, November 13th at 7 pm at Porthleven Public Hall.
