There are only two weeks to go until the deadline for applying to enter this year’s Chy Noweth Show (which is replacing the cancelled Royal Cornwall Show).
The schedule for the WI Competition, this year organised by the Environment & Public Affairs sub-committee, is as follows:
WIs are invited to create a staged exhibit reflecting the theme, using their skills and imagination, which must include the following:
- Three individual, identical, savoury tartlets, containing protein of choice. Please remember your entry has to last two days in situ. (20 marks)
- A floral arrangement using bee-friendly locally grown flowers and foliage without the use of Oasis/ floristry foam and plastic free (20marks)
- A piece of prose not more than 300 words of five ideas on Renewing Enchanted Cornwall. The prose to be mounted for display at the show (which can be decorated) but a non mounted text only copy to be submitted in advance (no later than 31 July) for prior judging. (20 marks)
- A wall hanging using recycled materials- any medium. This needs to be removable for judging, so not a backdrop please. (20 marks)
- A decorated keepsake box made from recycled or salvaged material. Any medium. (20 marks
In addition, there are two Flower Arranging competitions open to members:
- An arrangement on a tablespoon
- An arrangement in an egg cup
