A Splendid Afternoon at Carlyon Bay

Hall for Cornwall CEO Julian Boast, CFWI Chairman Margaret Johnson and guest speaker Dame Rosemary Squire

What better way to spend a chilly, rainy afternoon than having lunch with 225 of your closest friends? WI members from all over the county met today at Carlyon Bay Hotel for a fantastic County Lunch.

The dining room buzzed with happy conversation and laughter. But the volume dropped markedly when the delicious food was served and everyone tucked into their meals!

After the meal, over coffee, we were entertained by guest speaker Dame Rosemary Squire, theatre owner and entrepreneur. Rosemary is also Co-Chair of the Hall for Cornwall, and brought with her as a guest to the lunch, Hall for Cornwall CEO Julien Boast. As a surprise bonus raffle prize, Julien offered one lucky member four tickets to opening night at the Hall for Cornwall when it re-opens next year!

A keepsake from CFWI Chairman Margaret Johnson

All members went home with some treats. First, a lovely memento of the day – an embroided lavender bag, made by Federation Chairman Margaret Johnson. Second, a special piece of our gorgeous Centenary birthday cake, made by Home Economics & Craft Chairman Dot Rogers.

What a great way to cap off our Centenary events for the year! We hope to see lots of you at our Christmas County Lunches coming up in December.
