The recent successful Garden Safari held in Mawnan Smith completely depended on the garden owners being willing to invite members of the public to view their wonderful efforts. In total 12 women (and some hard working men) were involved, and what a show they put on! There were small courtyard gardens, flower gardens and a Victorian walled vegetable garden along with larger gardens divided into various “rooms” and finally a newly established garden where teas could be enjoyed. From many of them there were beautiful views stretching over the countryside and towards the Helford River. Sally Annan, Mawnan WI President, who organised the event, invited those involved to a thank you coffee morning. Sally said, “We appreciate the commitment and enthusiasm of all those who were involved in putting on this occasion, but would like to say a special thank you to the garden owners.”
Mawnan WI meets on the second Thursday of the month at Mawnan Memorial Hall at 7:15pm. Visitors and prospective members are invited to listen to speakers and enjoy delicious homemade refreshments. On Thursday 12th September Sean Sweeney will be talking about the exciting refurbishment of the Hall for Cornwall.
