December is always a busy month for everyone, preparing for the festive season. On 2 December, Godolphin Cross WI held its annual Carol Service and what a lovely evening it was. The Old Chapel was full to overflowing, the Christmas tree lights were twinkling as the children sang their Christmas songs. Mulled wine, mince pies and gingerbread were served afterwards to all who attended.
On 8 December, Godolphin WI members enjoyed a Christmas meal at The Shire Inn, Camborne. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Christmas crackers were pulled, paper hats were donned, jokes were told and the wine flowed.
Each year Godolphin WI chooses a local charity to support. This year it was West Cornwall Women’s Aid (WCWA). On 9 December, some Godolphin WI members attended an afternoon celebration at which President Vanessa Wyles presented WCWA with a cheque for £500. The members trust this will go a little way to help the organisation with all the good work it does to support women who find themselves in difficult times. It was an emotional afternoon listening to poems written by some of the women and hearing about the problems they have faced. Godolphin WI admires the work done by WCWA and wishes them much happiness in the future.
So finally, as the end of 2022 approaches, Godolphin WI would like to wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous 2023.
