NFWI has now announced two further speakers who will join us at the Royal Albert Hall in June. Both speakers will join Nazir Afzal for a special occasion in the WI calendar.

Melanie Brown: ‘Fireside chat’ with Mel B
We are thrilled to announce that Spice Girl, Broadway star, and abuse survivor Mel B (Melanie Brown MBE) is joining our Annual Meeting at the Royal Albert Hall on 5 June, as part of our theme on anti-violence against women. Mel B will be speaking about her lived experience of emotional and coercive abuse, and her work as a patron and ambassador for charity Women’s Aid. And, of course, she will also touch upon the impact of her band’s brand of Girl Power on a generation of girls and women!

Timothy Watson
Timothy Watson is a well-known and widely experienced British actor. Since training at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, he has worked extensively in the West End, at The National Theatre, as well as in Repertory and Fringe theatres, and on tour throughout the UK and the US. He has made countless TV and Film appearances and is a prolific voice artist. On Radio, Timothy is best known as the voice of infamous Rob Titchener in BBC Radio 4’s The Archers.

Timothy will join us to speak about his experience on The Archers as Rob Titchener in the high-profile domestic abuse storyline between 2013 and 2016. The storyline followed Rob Titchener, played by Timothy, as he abused Helen Archer and used coercive control which alienated her from family and friends.
