Get Involved with Forest for Cornwall!

May be an image of flower and natureYou will all have seen the article about Forest for Cornwall (F4C) which appeared in the March issue of County News. Here is your opportunity to get involved! WI members are invited to join the F4C team on Friday 21 April for a session at Penmount Crematorium in Truro, helping to care for the young trees they have planted there, and learning more about the management of young trees.

The session will start at 12pm at Penmount Crematorium, where we will enjoy a short talk on what has been planted, and be given an overview of our tasks. These will include weeding the avenue trees and tubes, spreading mulch, and providing an audit on failed trees, as well as re-guarding and staking trees. It will be a fairly relaxed session, not too strenuous: bring sandwiches and we will have a break at lunchtime and then carry on until 2pm. F4C will provide gloves and spades, but you are welcome to bring your own tools if you prefer.

At 2pm we will move to New County Hall where we will enjoy a social visit to the F4C team, and hear a talk about their work planting trees across Cornwall. This part of the day will last from 2.30 until 4pm.

There is plenty of parking at both venues, and there is no cost to the day. And we will be helping with the hugely important task of making sure that our new forests and woodlands prosper far into the future.

We are aiming at a minimum of five participants and a maximum of 20. If you would like to join us, you can contact Pippa Stilwell at cfwiclimate@gmail.com, or Alex Forrester at alex.forrester@cornwall.gov.uk.

We would love to see you there!
