October saw The Gissey Girls annual WI autumn fair, our biggest fundraising event of the year, where the local community come along to meet up with friends, enjoy a coffee or lunch, browse the different stalls whilst children can make Halloween themed crafts. Our members excelled themselves with many offers of help to set up or man stalls, made generous donations of crafts for a craft stall, items for the tombola, delicious chilli’s or pulled pork for lunches and of course home baked cakes! This year, along with our usual stalls we had our very own pre-loved pop up shop selling good quality clothes, bags, shoes and accessories donated by members – a great success with lots of interest and people bagging themselves dresses for special occasions, coats for the cooler days and accessories to brighten up an outfit. All unsold items have been carefully packaged and taken to Cornwall Hospice and Air Ambulance, resulting in benefits all round. We now need to get thinking creatively for our next fair as this years has been the most successful event yet!
