One of the CFWI Advisers recently attended a talk at a local WI’s meeting about Little Harbour Children’s Hospice, and was very moved.
Little Harbour, located in Porthpean, St Austell, is a home-from-home. A place where each family member can find time and space to feel normal and do the things they enjoy as a mum, as a dad, as a brother or sister: as a family, not overwhelmingly as a carer.
At Little Harbour as with all the South West Children’s Hospices, families will discover individual children’s bedrooms, accommodation for parents and siblings, a wide range of play and therapy facilities – including a messy play area, soft play room, a hydrotherapy pool and a multi-sensory room – and a homely family kitchen and living room.
For teenagers staying at Little Harbour they can make use of the IT and music facilities as well as use the games room as a place for chilling out, watching films and taking a few minutes to beat dad at pool.
Little Harbour opens their doors once a month and offers guided tours to show you exactly why your support is so valuable. This could be a great visit for your WI.

crocheting soft toys either for LittleHarbour. Or to raffle to raise funds. These little one and families need the loving support provided by the hospice and we should support them however we can.
Is this something you’re doing individually or as a WI project, Marie?
