With the recently declared climate emergency in mind, it was timely that Mawnan WI had invited Suzie and Peter from United Downs Deep Geothermal Power Project to their June monthly meeting.
Members were fascinated to hear that the hottest rocks in the UK are in Cornwall, so the county could be leading the way to secure clean and natural energy for the future.
The United Downs site will be holding an Open Day on Saturday 29th June to give surrounding communities the opportunity to find out more about this radical and innovative alternative to fossil fuels and to enable us to safeguard the future for our children and grandchildren.
