Mawnan WI Dances away the Cobwebs!

Sixty-five members of Mawnan WI would agree that there’s no better way of shaking off the cobwebs after the holidays than doing a bit of line dancing!

The Memorial Hall was packed when local dance instructor, Gill Sadler, came to lead the women through several routines. There were lots of smiles as well as deep concentration at times, but the music took over and everyone had a lot of fun.

Gill has many friends in Australia and is fundraising for the New South Wales Firefighters. The women were invited to donate to her collection and contributed over £180. Members donated independently, not as a WI – as we’re sure you all know, the Charity Commission prohibits WIs from making donations to any charities other than local ones.

Next week members for their first educational visit of 2020 Mawnan WI will be visiting Helston Museum. The following week on 20th January, they are hosting a workshop making Green Hearts to alert the community to issues surrounding climate change and the environment. This is a free community event and everyone is welcome to attend at the Memorial Hall at 1pm.
