Porthleven WI marked an impressive milestone recently, celebrating its 99th anniversary with a delightful luncheon at the renowned Kota Kai Restaurant. A group of members gathered to honour the occasion, sharing stories and enjoying a delicious meal together in the heart of Porthleven.
The WI, which has been an integral part of the local community since 1925, continues to foster friendship, learning and community service. Reflecting on the history of the WI, many members expressed their pride in being part of such a long-standing tradition, which has seen the organisation grow and evolve through the years.
“Porthleven WI has been a key pillar in our town for nearly a century, bringing women together and promoting local causes,” said one member. “It’s incredible to think we’re about to hit 100 years.” Excitement is already building for next year’s centenary celebration, with plans for a memorable event well underway. As Porthleven WI approaches its 100th anniversary, members are looking forward to marking this historic occasion with even bigger festivities.
“We’re thrilled to have reached 99 years, and we’re already planning something truly special for the big 100th next year,” shared a committee member involved in organising the centenary event. “It will be a wonderful way to honour the legacy of the WI and look forward to the future.”
