STOP PRESS: DUTCH BULBFIELD HOILDAY

There is no better time to visit Holland than when the tulips are in full bloom. The fields of western Holland

explode in a riot of colourful displays that you will not see anywhere else. We include a full day at the

Keukenhof Flower Show where the magnificent Bloemencorso flower parade is taking place. We also enjoy a

variety of excursions to explore the beautifully historic and sometimes unconventional Netherlands.

The four-star Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant De Korenbeurs is situated in the village of Made just a short

distance from Biesbosch National Park. Rooms are modern, comfortable and public areas are spacious and

welcoming. For more information: www.korenbeurs.nl/en/

Thursday

We make an early start and travel from Cornwall to Dover where we board the ferry for Calais. On arrival in France

we travel to the Belgian border where we have an overnight stop at the Aparthotel Alize Mouscron.

Friday

After breakfast we make our way to the Belgian city of Ghent. The mesmerising city centre is a pedestrian area that

is like a museum to early Flemish architecture and its canals add a beautiful dimension. After lunch we make our

way to Made and settle into the Fletcher Hotel.

Saturday

Today we have a full day visit to Keukenhof. For over fifty years the Ornamental Flower Industries have honed their

skills in producing the finest displays of floral art and each year has a different theme to wow the thousands of

visitors that attend this monumental event. During the day the wonderful Bloemencorso flower parade will pass

the main road past Keukenhoff. See the colourful floats and richly decorated vehicles accompanied by joyful

music, impressive floral designs and an atmosphere that awakens the senses.

Sunday Our excursion this morning takes us to ‘s-Hertogenbosch, one of the oldest medieval cities in the

Netherlands. The maze of narrow medieval streets and alleyways is easily explored on foot. In the afternoon we

visit the moving Kamp Vught, the only SS concentration camp outside Nazi Germany during the Second World

War. We learn stories of sadness, strength, prisoners and SS commanders.Monday

The Kinderdijk UNESCO World Heritage site will be our first stop today. Here we have the opportunity to admire

the beautiful windmills up close and experience this unique piece of the Netherlands while cruising along the

winding paths and picturesque waterways. There will be time to enjoy the pumping station and unique museum

mills. In the afternoon we visit the pearl of Brabant, Breda.

Leaving our hotel we make our journey via Calais and Dover, back to Cornwall arriving home during the evening.
