Alison Gribble and Pat Mallett from the Home Economics and Craft sub-committee held ‘What’s in My Trolley?’ cookery demonstrations this spring in Probus and Coads Green. Alison demonstrated traditional recipes with a twist, and Pat showed how to cook and use some of the more unusual ingredients which are now appearing on our supermarket shelves.
Over 150 people came to the two demonstrations and had a great time watching Alison and Pat cook such delights as garlic mushrooms, Somerset pork with apples (cooked in cider), raspberry and peach cheesecake salad, Mexican quinoa with avocado salsa, farro with pomegranate salad and coconut rice pudding.
All the dishes were available for the audience to taste at the end of the evening.
The recipe sheets were available for an optional donation to the Children’s Hospice South West and Pat would like to thank those who attended for their generosity as she is now able to send £77 to CHSW.
A big Thank you from Pensilva W .I to you both for a lovely informative evening. We can’t wait to try some of your recipes.
