A Great Get Together in Madron

In June, the women of Madron WI hosted a Great Get Together as part of a nationwide celebration of the fact that “we have more in common than divides us,” inspired by the beliefs of the murdered politician Jo Cox.

Held in Landithy Hall, the event included craft demonstrations, advice on fire safety from local fire officers, cream teas, a variety of songs from the Penzance Orpheus Ladies Choir, displays of photos, information on ‘What Does the WI Do?’ and a display of a dress made entirely of rubbish!

A beautiful rubbish dress!

After an enjoyable and successful day, Madron WI members are now considering whether they could make an even greater Great Get Together next year by involving a number of local groups and societies.
