On Sunday 11th August, St Just-in Penwith WI held an afternoon tea fundraiser in aid of Breast Cancer and the St Just WI’s improvement and modernisation fund, and a very enjoyable time was had by all.
More than 55 people attended the hall for scrumptious afternoon teas of cakes, sandwiches and sausage rolls, cream teas and cakes and scones, which were all made by the members. Others came in just to buy the delicious cakes and scones to take home.
Entertainment was provided by the melodious singing of Dani Sprawson, then the irrepressible Dave Jenkins with his guitar, playing and singing Blues, and finally the fabulous a Capella group Kegin Lev.
The very creditable sum of £460 was raised, to be divided equally between Breast Cancer and the St Just WI Hall Fund (modernisation and improvements to the building).
The event was well supported by members of the Sheffield, St Buryan, Pendeen, Zennor and Gulval WI’s.
