Mylor and Flushing Mermaids have been very busy – making cider! The first meeting of the newly formed Cider Club took place recently at the Cutting Patch in Mylor.
There was lots of washing, chopping and mashing and the new “scratter machine” made quick work of grinding the apples into a pulp before the pressing began.
Once all the pressing was finished, the Mermaids were ready to cook a hearty lunch of burgers, sausages and beans. Blue skies and sunshine made it a great outdoors event and
Social Organiser Fran Michael said, “We will be entering our cider in the Mylor Horticultural and Craft show next year – we’re hoping we’ve produced a winner!”
