Celebrate the International Day of Happiness!

Today, 20 March, is the United Nations official International Day of Happiness, recognising happiness as a “fundamental human goal”.

This year’s theme is ‘Happiness Together’. We’d love to hear about what makes you happy! Please tell us!

The International Day of Happiness is coordinated by Action for Happiness, a non-profit organisation which makes a load of helpful resources available for anyone interested:

  • Talks on subjects like ‘Building Resilience’, ‘Overcoming Trauma’ and ‘Everyday Joy’
  • Podcasts about mindfulness, meditation and happier living
  • A daily action app that prompts you each day with a little happiness reminder
  • Online events – the next one is about sleep and how it affects our happiness levels
  • Resources for those who are struggling

At this time of uncertainty and conflict, this year’s ‘Happier Together’ theme reminds us that lasting happiness comes from feeling connected to others and being part of something bigger.

That is certainly something the WI knows all about. Our world is vastly improved by connecting with others, in our own WIs, those in our areas, our Federations and by being part of a much bigger organisation!
