CFWI Annual Council Meeting 2021

Now that the dust has settled, we’ve had time to reflect on this year’s Annual Council Meeting. We don’t want to boast, but we do think it was one of the best Council meetings ever! And how wonderful it was to return to the beautiful new Hall for Cornwall after so long!

We’ve been overwhelmed by all the positive messages from members as well as the fabulous photos you’ve shared on Facebook.

The day wasn’t without its hitches, but as one member described us as “delightfully chaotic,” it can’t have been all bad!

We hope that you were all inspired, entertained, informed and challenged. That was our goal. We heard about anti-racism from Black Voices Cornwall, we were filled with joy listening to the Cornwall Rock Choir and we laughed our heads off at the Reverend Kate Bottley’s afternoon talk. What more could you ask from a day out?

You were also shown a BAFTA-winning short film from the Board of Trustees, depicting one of our lockdown Zoom meetings.

And we ended our day with a tearful thank you and farewell to Federation Chairman Margaret Johnson, who has stepped down after guiding us for the past four years. Her quiet leadership will be sorely missed.

Thank you so much for turning up and supporting us. How can we possibly top this next year??

  1. Yes – we had an interesting Day – I would like more face to face conversation interaction as I did not meet anyone? Many of us smiled at one another – to give WI experiences and to get to know one another is a way forward.

    • Thank you for the feedback, Roberta. We agree completely that getting to know other WI members is vital! Do you attend any of our other Federation events? They all allow plenty of opportunities for meeting other members, talking, sharing ideas and just having a laugh.
