Coastwatch and Easter Hats for Porthleven WI!

The winning entry in Porthleven WI’s Easter hat competition

An interesting evening was had by Porthleven WI this week learning about the work of the NCI, the National Coastwatch Institution. Len Jepp explained how the Institution was founded and had evolved, and showed some fascinating slides of the ever changing seas around Cornwall and the views from the lookout at Nares Head.

The NCI are always looking for volunteers. Anyone interested should get in touch.

Prizes were awarded for the Easter competitions, including best hat, card and egg. Brenda Richards kindly made the tea and coffee and members enjoyed chocolate treats.

Next month’s meeting will feature a talk about the childhood of an adoptee. The members competition will be for a ‘memory of your own childhood’. The meeting will be held on Wednesday 15th May at the Public Hall. New members always welcome.
