Connect Cornwall Technical Guidance

For those of you already looking forward to our exciting series of free online workshops, classes and tutorials, here’s a little bit of technical guidance:

All Connect Cornwall classes, workshops and sessions will be presented online either using Facebook Live or Zoom and are all free of charge.

FACEBOOK LIVE
To access Facebook Live, you will need to set up a Facebook Account if you don’t already have one. If you are not sure how to do this, go to www.facebook.com or simply Google “how to set up a Facebook Account”. If you’d rather not use social media after the next few months, you can register with a private setting and can take your Facebook account down afterwards.

  1. Go to www.facebook.com
  2. Enter your name, email address or mobile number, a password, your date of birth and your gender
  3. Click ‘Sign Up’
  4. To finish creating your account, you will need to confirm your email or mobile phone number

On the day of the Connect Cornwall event, enter the name of the Connect Cornwall class in the Facebook search bar at the top of the page. For example, on Thursday 7th May, you would enter UCreateArtAtHome. The classes will generally be open a few minutes before their scheduled start time, so you can join in just before.

Your name will come up in a comment box so that the tutor will see that you are connected. You will also be able to message her during the class if you need an explanation or if you’d like her to slow down or repeat an instruction.

ZOOM
We know that quite a number of WIs are already keeping in touch or holding committee meetings via Zoom, so some of you may already be familiar with it. If not, you can either download the Zoom app from the App Store, or just go to www.zoom.us and click on ‘Sign Up Free’.

Once you have the Zoom app installed on your phone, table or PC, that’s all you need to do until the day of Connect Cornwall event. Two days before the event, we will publish the link to the Zoom class, the session ID code and the password on the CFWI Facebook page.

If you have any further questions, please contact CFWI on cfwisecretary@btconnect.com.
