Crantock WI visit Healey’s Cyder Farm

Members of Crantock WI met at Healey’s Cyder Farm on a beautify warm autumn morning. What better time of year to see the apple orchards bursting with autumn colour. After a brief talk by one of the farm guides , they were left to wander round the property starting with the jam and chutney making area, where they were able to taste the delicious produce that was on offer.  A ride around the orchard was one of the highlights of the day, as the difference between picking eating and cider apples was explained.  A visit to the processing plant followed, before enjoying a lunch of cider scones and cheese with chutney.  Finally a walk through the museum lead to the tasting room. Who would have through there were so many ciders and products that can be made from apples?  Happy, and a little bit merry, everyone headed home after a most enjoyable day!
