Members recently ventured from the Lizard Peninsula out to Geevor Tin Mine to learn more about the History of Cornish Tin mining. They were treated to a guided tour by a miner who had actually worked there before the mine was closed in 1990. He really brought the experience to life as he recounted the camaraderie of fellow workers, told of pranks played on him as the youngest miner and explained what the conditions and different jobs were like first hand. Feeling very brave, the Cury members then ventured down part of the mine with hard hats for protection, just to get a snapshot of what conditions were like and gaining a healthy respect for our miners in the process!
