Members of Godolphin WI enjoyed an interesting evening recently with Tamsin Harris. Tamsin keeps bees which are spread around different areas in Cornwall. She makes honey, differently flavoured depending on the area the bees collect pollen from, and wax products which her bees kindly provide for her.
She explained to the group her joy of keeping bees and then went on to show them how to make their own wax candles. As there are no additives, the burning of these candles does not produce any black smoke so doesn’t discolour walls or ceilings. Each of the women made a rolled candle from a wax sheet and also one from a rubber mould. The evening was a lot of fun enjoyed by all.
