Godolphin WI News

Members of Godolphin WI ended the year on a high. They all enjoyed a Christmas meal at The Halfway House in Rame. The food was excellent and the staff looked after the group very well.

A couple of the women were also invited to join Porthleven WI for a Christmas celebration with them and what an incredible evening that was. They were entertained by Bryher’s Boys singing traditional Cornish songs, sea shanties as well as some Christmas classics. There was so much food beautifully prepared by the Porthleven members together with hot mulled wine. Elaine and Kathy sent their heartfelt thanks to Porthleven WI for such a wonderful evening. Helston WI also invited another couple of Godolphin’s members to join them for an evening of celebration and a good time was had by all.

Godolphin WI’s January meeting was extremely interesting. Di Downs who is in charge of the textile and dress collection at Falmouth University gave an amazing insight into the collection of clothes held by the university, ranging from everyday wear through to glamorous outfits and underwear. She kept the group amazed and amused the whole evening.

The members are now in the process of preparing their program for the coming year, which will no doubt include many enjoyable evenings and outings.

If you’d like to join Godolphin WI, just come along to The Old Chapel at Godolphin Cross on the second Thursday of each month at 7.30pm. You’ll be welcomed with a cup of tea and a biscuit. We’re told that something stronger could be arranged at short notice!
