Yesterday, members of the Board of Trustees along with our hard-working office staff, took a day off for a lovely outing to The Lost Gardens of Heligan.
WI talk was strictly forbidden and it was a day of pure enjoyment.
We heard a talk about the history of the gardens from a member of Heligan’s staff, then had a wander around the upper gardens – vegetables, flowers, glass houses, the Italian garden and the sundial garden.
After a delicious lunch and lots of laughter at the Steward’s House cafe, we carried on and walked through the Jungle and the Woodland – braving the rope walk and admiring the Mud Maid.
Before heading home, we had ice cream, followed by a good old mooch around the gift shop and the farm shop.
We do work very hard throughout the year, so it was great to have a little break together.
If you think you might be interested in joining the CFWI Board of Trustees or learn more about what we do (when we’re not off on a jolly!), just ring the Office for information about how to sit in on one of our monthly meetings as an observer (01872 272843).
