Mawnan WI Marks World Oceans Day

When deciding how to celebrate World Oceans Day, it seemed an obvious choice for Mawnan WI to arrange a beach clean at Helford Passage – one of their nearest and most beautiful beaches. A group of a dozen members and friends armed with gloves, litter pickers and brightly coloured buckets set off along the beach returning with an amazing 9.2 kg of general rubbish, 10.2kg of items which will be used by the ocean recovery project to be recycled to make kayaks and 0.56kg for council recycling. Following their morning activity they enjoyed lunch at the Ferry Boat Inn.

On Thursday 27th June Bishop Chris has been invited to talk about Walking the Camino Way. This is an open meeting – men and women in the community are invited to join the members for what should be a fascinating evening. It will be held in Mawnan Memorial Hall starting at 7:15pm. Entrance will be by donation to St Petroc’s and refreshments will be available.
