Mawnan WI Visits Shelter Box in Truro

Shelter Box Visitors’ Centre in Truro was the destination for Mawnan WI’s September Educational Visit. It’s a unique attraction in many ways: it’s free and it’s about disaster relief. There’s nothing like it anywhere in the country.

Members were told about how the charity responds to natural disasters and provides shelter for families who have lost everything. There was a chance to examine the boxes which are sent all over the world as well as the opportunity to go in the tents and around the current exhibition. It was inspirational to see the valuable work done by this Cornish charity.

Mawnan WI is making preparations for the Village Harvest Supper on Friday 11th October at 7:15pm in the Memorial Hall. Everyone is welcome.
