Penpol & Point Has a Go at Glass Fusion

Seven members of Penpol and Point WI ventured down to the Camborne Contemporary Crafts Hub (CCCH), housed in the recently renovated Donald Thomas Centre, to learn about the art of glass fusion.

Helen, their instructor, very clearly explained many of the techniques and patiently guided the women’s efforts to create their own light-catching glass ornaments. They used crushed coloured glass powder and cut stencils to create patterns. As they became more adventurous, they experimented with larger pieces of coloured glass and even scored and cut glass shapes to overlay patterns to add another dimension.

After firing in the kiln, they all went home with some beautiful pieces of fused glass art to display.
