Porthleven Public Hall welcomed a crowd of women to the WI’s Open Evening to listen to Lizzie Stephens speaking about her work with the West Cornwall Women’s Refuge. The refuge is this year’s charity and members brought donations of household items, food and toiletries along with items for a silent auction. Over £150 was raised.
Porthleven WI President, Margaret Edgcumbe, thanked Lee Eggle for her time as WI Secretary and presented her with flowers.
Plans were made for upcoming trips to Trengwainton Gardens and to Trevaskis Farm for the WI birthday lunch. In October, there will be a quiz evening, again raising funds for the Women’s Refuge.
Porthleven WI meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. New members are always welcome.
