Reading Group Success at Grampound WI

The July meeting of Grampound WI’s Reading Group coincided with American Independence Day

Grampound WI’s reading group started again soon after the end of lockdown and is now very popular.

There are currently 10 members, all of whom are being challenged to read books that they would not normally read.

The group was recently offered copies of books by local author Anna Penrose. The Body in the Wall is her first novel and is set in a local fishing village, possibly Mevagissey. The reading group members all enjoyed the story of a woman from London hoping to take over and make a success of an existing book shop. During the renovations of the shop a body is found and the hunt is on for the murderer.

The readers all agreed the book was enjoyable although not particularly challenging. However, they didn’t guess the identity of the murderer!

The group is now tackling Maggie O’Farrell’s latest book, The Marriage Portrait, and look forward to discussing it in September.
