Knitting and/or Crocheting for Charity

We know how many of you are keen knitters and crocheters, and how much you like giving back to the community, so we think we can help!

Recently, a plea was sent out via Facebook stating that the Neonatal Unit at Royal Cornwall Hospital was in need of knitted hats for premature babies. This message was spread among a number of WIs through social media but, unfortunately, it turned out to be misinformation, and the Hospital has now let us know hats are not needed at present.

However, there are plenty of other worthwhile groups out there who are in need of knitted and crocheted items.

You can find a list of charitable organisations here, and another here. These are mainly UK-based.

Please bear in mind that it’s always a good idea to contact the charity first, before you and your WI members start knitting and crocheting. An organisation’s needs change from time to time, and information provided online is not always up-to-date.
