South Hill WI Ventures across the Border!

A hardy group of members from South Hill WI ventured across the border into Devon via the Tamar Bridge on a very rainy day.

The purpose was to find out more about the history of the Royal Albert Bridge built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel as well as the Tamar Bridge. After a brief chat in the Visitor Centre, the women ventured out onto the pedestrian walkway in some very blustery weather. The group reported that the sensation of walking along the pathway with the bridge moving beneath their feet was an interesting one!

The talk was fascinating and it was remarkable to see the structural and engineering details up close.
