St Neot WI Visits South Bosent Gardens

Members of St Neot WI were delighted to be given the opportunity recently to have a tour around the delightful gardens at South Bosent Farm.

This is a new Cornish garden being developed from farmland by sisters Adrienne and Trish near Liskeard on a 9 1/2-acre site incorporating flower gardens, water meadow and woodlands. The garden includes a water meadow with two large wildlife ponds, a flower meadow, an acre of bluebell wood and two areas of woodland garden as well as a more traditional garden area with several themed areas such as a gravel garden, a stumpery, a birch grove, a waterfall and rill and two 25m mixed borders with rose arches and a canal pond.

The garden is being developed to encourage and provide habitat for wildlife so it includes areas of nettles and long grass for caterpillars as well as bramble patches and log piles for food and cover for small creatures.

Following the tour the members were served hot drinks with delicious cakes in the Tea Shack located in the gravel garden.
