Tywardreath WI were delighted to welcome Margaret Johnson, CFWI Federation Chairman, to their 80th birthday celebration. They were also joined by WI Advisers Yvonne Toms and Marilyn Leggat, as well as members from Fowey and Cuddra WIs.
Tywardreath’s longest serving past members and Presidents Blanche James and Mrs June Brown, who have over 80 years combined membership, were in attendance, alongside other retired women who had served on the committee in various posts, including Lynn Barry and Marj James.
After a rousing Jerusalem, Treasurer Christine Debnam and President Linda Thomas presented Cornwall Air Ambulance (the chosen charity for 2018) with a cheque for £200.
The celebrations got underway and tea was served. Pasties, splits and saffron cake were on the menu, all made and served by Tywardreath members.
On display around the hall were boards with photos, notes from record books, and memorabilia collected over the past 80 years.
Bunting comprised of 100 pennants decorated the hall, made to coincide with the 100 pledge.
The cake was cut by Margaret Johnson and Linda Thomas.
