Coads Green WI Knits Butterflies for Dying Matters Week

The call went out to Cornwall’s knitters from Royal Cornwall Hospital’s Palliative and End of Life Team to help create a string of butterfly bunting that would stretch around the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance and St Michael’s Hospital in Hayle.

Coads Green WI decided that they would rise to the CFWI Centenary ‘100 Pledge’ by knitting 100 butterflies for the bunting, by 13th May, which is the start of Dying Matters Week. All the butterflies produced in Cornwall will be sold, at a later date, to raise funds for the charity.

Every year Dying Matters hosts an awareness week with the aim of  placing the importance of talking about dying, death and bereavement firmly on the national agenda. In 2019, the week will run from 13th-19th May and the theme is Are We Ready?

What wonderful work, Coads Green! Is your WI taking the 100 Pledge? If so, please let me know what you’re doing. Send all stories and photos to cfwi.publications@gmail.com.
