This Sunday 24 October marks United Nations Day, commemorating the anniversary of the UN Charter in 1945. With the ratification of this founding document by the majority of its signatories, the United Nations officially came into being.
Our local Cornwall United Nations Association will be celebrating United Nations Day on Saturday 23 October by meeting outside New County Hall in Truro at 10.30am.
The United Nations flag will be flying over New County Hall, and Truro’s Mayor Steven Webb, whom many of us met at our Annual Council Meeting this week, will be present.
The group will then move into the centre of Truro to continue the commemoration of this important day.
If any WI members are planning to be in Truro on Saturday, please do consider stopping by to help mark this occasion.
