WI Event Risk Assessments

Does your WI create a Risk Assessment for the events you hold? Although this isn’t required, it’s always a good idea to help you evaluate and minimise hazards, and keep your members happy and safe. Please rest assured that Risk Assessments are carried out for all CFWI events. If you do not currently assess risks for your own WI events, you and your committee may want to consider it.

In general, to do an assessment, you should:

  1. Identify hazards.
  2. Determine the likelihood of harm, such as an injury or illness occurring, and its severity.
  3. Identify actions necessary to eliminate the hazard, or control the risks involved.
  4. Evaluate to confirm if the hazard has been eliminated or if the risk is appropriately controlled.

To help make this simple, we have created a basic Risk Assessment form for WIs to use. You can download the form here from the website under Links > Forms. It is available both as a Word document or a pdf, and has been based closely on the Risk Assessment form used by NFWI.

We hope you find the Risk Assessment useful!
