A Mystery Trip for Pensilva WI

Pensilva WI members always look forward to their August meeting and this year was no exception, as they went on a mystery trip organised by President Verna Dawe. The destination was Mevagissey and the weather played along as they arrived in glorious sunshine.

Part of the surprise was a visit to Mevagissey Museum, where a private viewing had been organised. The group was given a short history of the building itself, built in 1745, and then they proceeded to have a look around. There were numerous photographs showing the town in bygone days and artefacts such as an apple crush, a rotating barley thresher and even a perfectly detailed Cornish kitchen with a working cloam oven.

The evening was rounded off with the obligatory fish and chips – and ice-cream for some.
