Mermaids: Mylor and Flushing WI traditionally does not hold a meeting in August, so a couple of outings were arranged instead.
Members indulged in a delicious cream tea at The Falmouth Hotel with optional seafront stroll, and last week they enjoyed a delightful walk around nearby Enys Gardens on a warm, dry day. Fairies, woodland creatures and dragons, all artistically woven from wicker into amusing sculptures and naturally decorated, were cleverly displayed in the woodland and gardens. Enys, an old historic garden with family records dating back to the 13th century, is best known for its fabulous bluebell meadow, and is well worth a visit, particularly with youngsters who would enjoy the trail (on until 31 August). A welcome cuppa and cake was enjoyed after the exercise too.
The Mermaids have been benefitting from health and welfare themed meetings this year with talks on therapeutic massage (Keheren Therapy), mindfulness, yoga and, in September, sea swimming poetry.
