Sunday 2 July is the UK’s third annual Thank You Day. Over the past two years, the day has brought over 15 million people together as friends, families, and neighbours to strengthen the bonds that create kinder, more connected, communities. This year, the WI is proud to be supporting /Together and Music for Dementia as they lead the charge to get communities connecting through music and WIs around the country are invited to take part and to thank neighbours, colleagues, friends, families, or carers through music!
The Thank You Day official anthem ‘Thank You for Being a Friend’ by Tony Christie, is due to be released at the end of June, and all WIs are being encouraged to start practising ready to take part on the 2 July 2023!
Across the country, we are calling out to all WIs to start practising and get ready to sing on 2 July by organising flash mobs in your local area; in the aisles of your local supermarket, local care homes, town centres, anywhere where you can pass on the message and brighten someone’s day.
To help you prepare for the event, the WI has provided the following:
WI information sheet
‘Thank You for Being a Friend’ piano sheet music
‘Thank You for Being a Friend’ sheet music
Official toolkit
More materials, including Thank You Day invitations, resources and images are available on MyWI.
